There are many spots in this hill station where you get a panoramic view of the town of Munnar and the nearby hills and valleys. These are: Pothamedu View Point, Kolukkumalai Tea Estate, Top Station or Top Slip and Kalvari Mount. Other scenic locations here are the Echo Point, Photo Point, Lock Heart Gap and Elephant Lake.Munnar is home to protected areas like the Kurunjimala sanctuary, Eravikulam wildlife park and Chinnar wildlife sanctuary among many others are now a haven for many endangered species of flora and fauna like the Nilgiri Thar, the grizzled giant squirrel, the Nilgiri wood pigeon, gaur, Nilgiri langur, sambar and the neelakurunji flower. The Eravikulam National Park is truly a nature lover’s haven with its abundant Shola forests and grassland which are home to the rare species of wild goats called the Nilgiri Tahr.
Anamudi Peak is another popular tourist destination that lies inside the Eravikulam National Park. This is a much sought after trekking route among adventurers who find the thrill of trekking complimented by the scenic landscape consisting of a variety of flora. Mattupetti dam is situated at an altitude of 1700m above sea level and offers a spectacular view of the Indo-Swiss live stock project which rears high yielding cattle. The tourists are allowed to visit few of these cattle sheds at the beautiful farm nearby.
