Advertising for lawyers over the internet is exclusively authorized, but framed in the area of ethics. In this subject, the Rules of Process of the National Legal Profession (INR) sets the rules.
In general, the advertising of the lawyer is permitted if it provides facts to the public and is without any form of solicitation (1). Some media are excluded de facto advertising: leaflets, posters, films, radio and television broadcasts.
In electronic communication, the lawyer who opens or modifies a website must inform the College Council immediately and advise it of the domain names that can access it. The choice of the domain name is not free, since it must include the name of the lawyer or the exact name of the firm, which may be followed or preceded by the word "lawyer" (art. 10.6 INR) and not generically refer to the title of lawyer or title may be misleading (eg solicitor famille.com, avocats.fr etc.)..

Finally, if the participation of lawyers in blogs and social networks is allowed, it must be in compliance with the essential principles of the profession (dignity, independence, integrity, conscience, humanity, honor, loyalty, prudence, fellowship etc.)..
